In doing so, the filmmaker draws on a rich treasure source of footage, an alternative archive of everyday culture created over a quarter of a century.

Pairi-daézaClub wants to serve as a digital and filmographic reservoir for collecting knowlegde on and about the "exile garden for foreign #plants " as well as becoming a platform of action revolving around the different branches of our explorations.
The first growing branch of the club tested possible shapes and forms of a sculptural host for diasporic plant desires.
Workshop #1 evolved from the frequent get-togethers and meandering thoughts of friends and neighbours in Hamburg St. Pauli
over the last years of lockdown, exchange + the surrounding landscapes and shapely park grass fields, the basketball court and vast concrete harbor lands around it, all missing the thing desired.

In Berlin hat sich mit dem Enteignungsvolksentscheid eine große Mehrheit deutlich dafür ausgesprochen, den Wohnungsmarkt den Marktgesetzen zu entziehen. Dies ist ein wichtiger Schritt in der sozialen Auseinandersetzung um die Bezahlbarkeit von Raum zum Wohnen und das Recht auf Stadt.
Was heute in Berlin breit organisiert Politik macht, hat sich zunächst in St. Pauli formiert: Einer der vielen Anfänge war der Film „Empire St. Pauli“ von Irene Bude und Olaf Sobczak. Vor dem Film sprachen die Parteien von „gefühlter Gentrifizierung“. Nach dem Film hatten sie eine außerparlamentarische Bewegung am Hals.
Irene und Olaf suchten für die ersten Filmvorführungen Orte des Konflikts auf. Die zweite Projektion fand im Park Fiction statt. Wir erwarteten maximal 40 Besucher*innen – doch der Park (Bild) war brechend voll. So fangen Bewegungen an, die die Welt verändern.
In Berlin, the expropriation referendum resulted in a large majority clearly in favor of liberating the housing market from the laws of the market. This is an important step in the social debate about the affordability of housing and the right to the city.
What today makes broadly organized politics in Berlin, was first formed in St. Pauli: One of the many beginnings was the film "Empire St. Pauli" by Irene Bude and Olaf Sobczak. Before the film, the parties spoke of "perceived gentrification." After the film, they had an extra-parliamentary movement at their heels.
Irene and Olaf sought out places of conflict for the first film screenings. The second projection took place at Park Fiction. We expected a maximum of 40 visitors - but the park (picture) was packed. This is how movements that change the world begin...
Das Titelgebende „Empire Riverside Hotel“ in St. Pauli war im Februar 2010 Schauplatz eines Symposiums der Immobilienentwickler*innenbranche. Diese Leute verlangen zwar Mondpreise, hatten aber nicht damit gerechnet, dass sich innerhalb der Recht-auf-Stadt-Bewegung eine Sekte bilden würde, die durch esoterische Rituale die Schwerkraft überwinden und das gesamte Hotel mittels Psychokinese ins Weltall schicken würde. Das Video einer anonymen Passant*in zeigt den Moment, in dem ein Zittern durch Chipperfields Kupferturm geht, kurz vor dem Abheben.
The eponymous "Empire Riverside Hotel" in St. Pauli was the venue of a symposium of the real estate developer industry in February 2010. Although these people charge "lunar prices", they did not expect that a sect would form within the Right to the City movement that would overcome gravity through esoteric rituals and send the entire hotel into space by means of psychokinesis. The video of an anonymous passerby shows the moment when a tremor goes through Chipperfield's copper tower, just before take-off.

Margit Czenki's camera casually moves through the peculiar opening scene at the Düsseldorf Malkasten. Chandeliers, solemn rooms, Heinrich Heine was once here, a choir recites something 1969 modern, someone fries fried eggs and hangs them on a clothesline, Christoph Schäfer projects drawings on the wall, seemingly stumbles through his lecture on the history of the city, the audience can't believe it, is this brilliant or dumb, but at the end, imperceptibly, you have learned more than in a complete urban design study.

Jumpstyle und Tecktonic jagten um den Erdball, sorgten für Austausch zwischen Vorstädten, Parkplätzen und Einkaufszentren dieser Welt. In dem Video verknüpft Christoph Schäfer die betanzten Wohnzimmer und Dächer mit zentralen Thesen aus den Urbanistischen Schriften Henri Lefebvres.

In 2005, almost all cell phones had simple video cameras - and Youtube went online. The combination of ubiquitous film and publishing opportunities, combined with unclear copyright rules for music, created an explosive boom in public dance videos until around 2008. Jumpstyle and Tecktonic chased around the globe, creating exchanges between suburbs, parking lots and shopping malls around the world. In the video Christoph Schäfer links the danced living rooms and roofs with central theses from the urbanist writings of Henri Lefebvre.

2001: Only a few weeks after the sale of the Rote Flora, Klausmartin "Kulturinvestor" Kretschmer rents the also freshly purchased Kasematten next to the Pudel back to the Senate for a six-figure sum, for the advertising event "Medianight". Alarmed by Park Fiction, Pudel and Hafenstrasse surround the event location with film projections. On the Pudel side, "We Are the Builders" runs, on the Hafenstrasse "Park Fiction". Hamburg, Mitte der Neunzigerjahre: Im körnig-farbigem Super 8 inszeniert Margit Czenki ("Komplizinnen", "Swingpfennig/Deutschmark") den geschickt aus einer Position der Unterlegenheit heraus geführten Kampf für einen Park am Hafenrand, den St.Paulianer*innen gegen ein millionenschweres Bauvorhaben durchsetzen. Eine Filmcollage über einen Park, den es noch nicht gibt, über Kunst & Politik, über nomadische Kriegsführung, über oszillierende Wünsche. Über die Stadt, und was sie sein könnte. Über sehr unterschiedliche Personen und die Kraft einer Gruppe, die längere Zeit zusammen arbeitet und Ideen produziert. Mit Park Fiction Aktivist*innen und Schorsch Kamerun als Vertreter, der zusammen mit Ted Gaier auch die Musik zum Film beisteuerte.

Wie man "Gentrifizierung" buchstabiert, weiß noch keiner, als der Senat in Klausmartin Kretschmer einen "Kulturinvestor" für Problemimmobilien findet, dem er die Rote Flora verkauft - und die Kasematten neben dem Pudel. Dort soll die "Medianight" stattfinden, ein exklusives Event nur für Werber*innen und ihre Kund*innen. Der Pudel dreht ein uneingeladenes Werbevideo für das Event, Schorsch und Rocko stapfen im Geschäftsführermodus die Baustellen am Hafenrand ab - und Pudel Doktor Norbert Karl wird zum Schirmherrn der Veranstaltung ernannt.
Was verbindet inszenierte Orangenbäume am Hafenrand mit Ideologiekritik aus dem Überraschungsei? Persische Teppichmuster mit Palastgärten in Marrakesch? Wie erzählt man die Politik eines Gefüges? Und was hat all das mit dem Recht auf Stadt zu tun? Margit Czenki bringt diese Gemengelagen in einer Serie von Filmen, Clips und Videos zusammen. Alle sind entweder direkt aus dem Park Fiction Zusammenhang heraus entstanden - oder stehen räumlich oder thematisch oder bewegungstechnisch damit in Verbindung. Die Spannbreite der Formate reicht von echtem Filmmaterial in Spielfilmlänge aus den Neunzigerjahren (transferiert von Super 8 und 16 mm), Dokumentationen aus der Frühzeit des Digitalvideos, in Workshops mit Kindern entstandenen Hi8-, VHS- und Umatic-Tapes, ausgearbeiteten Agitprop-Streifen aus den early days der Gentrifizierungskritik, dokumentierten Auftritten, bis zu erfolgreichem Widerstand gegen feindliche Übernahmen mit filmischer Hilfe.Eröffnet wird die Serie rund um Park Fiction durch das Open Air Kinodes Golden Pudel Club im Grüntheater des Park Fiction im Rahmen desHH Kultursommers.

What connects staged orange trees at the edge of the harbor with ideology criticism from a surprise egg? Persian carpet patterns with palace gardens in Marrakech? And what does all this have to do with the right to the city?
Margit Czenki brings all these diversities together in a series of films, clips and videos. All of them either emerged directly from the Park Fiction context - or are spatially or thematically or movement-wise connected to it. The range of formats extends from real feature-length footage from the 90s (transferred from Super 8 and 16 mm), documentaries from the early days of digital video, Hi8, VHS and Umatic tapes created in workshops with children, elaborate agitprop strips from the early days of gentrification criticism, documented performances, to successful resistance against hostile takeovers with cinematic help.
